Designer pheromones took a turn for the worst at the turn of the century, 2101. Many become too effective. To add to this, there was a strong push in the male pheromone industry to flavor scents after various foods.
Naturally mass cannibalism ensued. The male population dropped by nearly one fifth over the course of a few weeks.
