The Planetary Architect

You look out the window of the Cheshire Cat. The planetary construction is almost finished. Three planetary energy bodies orbit a large natural planet. The inside of the planet is currently being hollowed out, and the excavated material is being launched into orbit to eventually form a network of solid orbital rings. Once the process is complete the planetary energy bodies will be disengaged. This is the most expensive project that any human has ever invested. The planetary architect Felix Skyfire is the sole investor. That kind of money can buy star systems. Unbelievable. Grotesque. Bewitching.

Once the planet is constructed the interior of the planet will be just as active as the exterior. The rings will be home to millions of people as well. Skyfire won’t do any of the terrestrial design. Such things are far to trivial for him. He is the kind of super rich bitch that can only find satisfaction in playing God. You make these jibes in you mind but really only out of jealousy. You can’t help but remember the sense of awe that you experienced when you first encountered a Skyfire celestial body. It was the Phoenix Circle, a star that had been artificially created and that held the form of a giant super-dense ring. The ring was larger than Sol’s entire system but still required a thick asteroid belt to keep from caving in on itself. There is nothing quite like standing on the surface of a planet and looking up to see a ring of fire surrounding it. On the planet patience, which orbits inside and outside of the ring on a perpendicular axis, there is little atmosphere. Depending on the time of year, Phoenix Circle looks either like an burning aurora Borealis or like a golden halo in space.

You feel a hand on your shoulder. A loved one tells you to come to dinner. Felix Skyfire is about to announce his next Celestial Project. You sneer noticeably and say something about starving children in Flax system. In truth, you can barely contain your enthusiasm.
